(Contraindications: Do not use Rosemary oil if you have High Blood Pressure, Epilepsy or in Pregnancy. Never use essential oils neat on skin as they will irritate.)
Some of the benefits of Rosemary essential oil include mental clarity and improved memory; increased circulation; respiratory help; relieving aches and pains; helping digestive issues and hair health.
The aroma of Rosemary induces a feeling of calm so using it in the hair and or the foot soak could also aid a good night’s sleep.
ROSEMARY HAIR OIL
I love using the oil in the photo in my hair. Tisserand oil blends are renowned for being excellent quality. Always read the ingredients in any pre prepared oil blends. For instance, this particular blend contains sweet almond oil, so would not be suitable for anyone with a nut allergy.
I massage in a small amount into my scalp and hair and leave it in for at least a few hours as a wonderful conditioning treatment. The action of massaging, plus the properties of the rosemary oil stimulate the circulation in the scalp and hair follicles to promote healthy hair and good skin condition of the scalp. Rosemary hair oil has antioxidant properties and is full of nutrients, so is both protective and wonderfully nourishing for the hair.
If you were to make your own hair oil blend, I recommend Base Formula for good quality Rosemary essential oil. A useful and easy to purchase carrier oil is sunflower oil and organic if you can find it is best. Just use a couple of drops of essential oil in say 50ml of your carrier oil. Never use essential oils from the small bottles neat on the skin as they irritate because they are so highly concentrated.
Or alternatively, if you have some fresh rosemary pop this in your carrier oil to infuse it with the wonderful rosemary nutrients.
ROSEMARY FOOT SOAK (you can also add some Epsom salts or sea salt and / or a few drops of tea tree essential oil). Use a couple of fresh rosemary branches or a couple of tablespoons of dried rosemary in a litre of warm water and allow it to infuse for 10-15 minutes before soaking your feet for around 20 mins. Or alternatively use a few drops of Rosemary essential oil in your water, but put this in immediately before you soak your feet (when using essential oils in warm water pop each few drops in half an eggcup of either full fat milk or vodka as it will disperse into the water more readily!).
A foot soak after a long day, especially if you are on your feet a lot, is bliss. Rosemary has anti inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial properties, so brilliant for fatigued feet and to improve circulation and general skin health for the feet.
