This is the time of year we all are likely to sing a little more.
Do you find yourself humming or singing to yourself sometimes?
Or have you experienced the benefits of chanting maybe?
It’s very therapeutic is said to relax the nervous system, calm our heart rate and blood pressure too. It has a very positive effect on our vagus nerve regulation.
Humming can enhance sleep boost immunity and release oxytocin, which is the positive feel good chemical within the body. It helps detoxify the body and enhance your sleep.
This year I had an opportunity to sit in on live services where Cistercian Monks were singing and it was a wonderful experience. It is a great way to experience a different kind of sound therapy.
Sometimes it is useful to repeat, either out loud or in your head, a positive mantra to oneself as an affirmation, perhaps even as you go about your day. Good examples are I Am Calm or I Feel Peaceful.
Give it a try and notice how your energy shifts.
