If you are feeling stressed, anxious, have scattered thoughts and energy, are over thinking and over worrying about past mistakes and what might happen in the future, then GROUNDING is a great way to feel calm, rooted, steady, present, aware and balanced. It can help you feel better able to cope with the challenges of modern life.

Here is a brief introduction to Grounding. There are many benefits and techniques you can research further.

Benefits of Grounding include: Improving sleep; improving energy levels; regulating hormones; improving circulation; reducing symptoms of menopause; managing stress and anxiety; helping aches and pains, especially after physical exertion; helping regulate cortisol levels; helping reduce unwanted menopause symptoms; speeding up muscle recovery after exercise and assisting good immune function.

QUICK AND EASY GROUNDING EXERCISE . . . .

Either seated or reclining, barefoot outdoors is great to try or with shoes or indoors if this is more practical. Make sure you are comfy with your feet flat on the floor or ground if you can (though anywhere will work as the intention to ground is the key, so you could be floating on water, on horseback or ten floors up and it will still work).
Alternatively, you may choose to do your grounding whilst walking and feeling your feet connecting deeply as if they are sinking into the earth as you move.
Now observing your breath and encouraging belly breathing. Noticing the belly expand on the in breath and relax back on the out breath. With every out breath get the sense or feeling that your feet are connecting to the earth and that roots are growing down from the soles of your feet into the earth – deeply connecting you to the calmness and stillness the earth has to offer. You may or may not feel sensations in your feet and they may begin to feel quite heavy, as if they are magnetically connected to the ground or sinking into the ground. Tuning into the stillness of the earth energy and enjoying the feeling of being more secure and calm. Continuing as long as you wish, noticing sounds, smells, sights (if able to safely close eyes you might notice shapes, colours or images). Noticing any feelings or sensations you are experiencing. Really being in the moment whilst you are Grounding. Mindfully connecting to the earth. Noticing how easy it is to release with every out breath anything that is no longer serving you, without analysis. Just allowing that feeling of letting go of any unwanted thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations into the earth for recycling. Giving yourself time to do this. Feel any unwanted feelings melting into the earth, dissolving and dissipating, drifting out of you and away to be recycled. Whilst simultaneously replacing the space created by those released feelings with the wonderful positive feelings and visions of anything which brings you joy, makes your heart sing, gives you wonderful feelings, happy memories and times when you have experienced laughter, love, joyful times and special places. Topping up your internal happy battery right to the top. Feeling yourself smile either internally or externally or both. Enjoying that time which is just for yourself and your body for as long as you wish. When you are ready then being aware of your hands and feet, feeling fully alert and maybe doing a stretch and noticing how this simple practice enhances your whole day. It is something that you can do whilst still or moving and no one needs to be aware of what you are doing as this is just for you.

You might wish to explore other ways to feel grounded if you enjoyed the above practice. For instance, using a grounding mat or sheet which plug in and connect only to earth. The benefits are reported to include those listed above. I can personally recommend good quality products from a company called Get Grounded. If you’re interested, it’s worth checking them out as they do a wide range of products.
Enjoy your grounding 😊
PS. I hope the photo of my feet don’t cause any offence 🤣😎
