Here are 2 great exercises for your shoulders. They are particularly helpful for anyone who spends a lot of time at a desk or driving.
Always work within your limits and if something hurts then please stop or go more gently/smaller/slower. Seek medical advice if you have had any injury to the area before starting any exercise regime.
SHOULDER ROLLS – You might even already do these instinctively. Shrug shoulders towards ears then backwards and downwards slowly in a circular motion so you are making a capital D shape. This loosens tight and stiff shoulders and works muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Always listen to your body and work within your limitations so maybe just small circles to begin with. Maybe you will find it preferable to pop your fingertips on your shoulders and draw a backwards circle with your elbow to get the same effect.
TENNIS BALL – One of the best massage tools ever. Use on the tops of your shoulders to ease this part of the trapezius muscle that can become very tight and solid if you are feeling tense. Rolling the ball over the muscle from back to front and in several places to feel the benefit.
Exercise and massage increase the circulation to the area and this can bring warmth and pleasant sensations. These exercises positively affect all the shoulder area and the nervous system too.
