Here is a short relaxing exercise . . . .
Imagine you are like this beautiful birch tree in my garden.
In autumn the nature around us shows us how good it is to LET GO, to release what no longer serves us, to prepare for the cooler months where we can rest in preparation for springtime growth. This is particularly helpful if you have found your stress levels rising.
Now use your wonderful imagination and get a sense or a feeling that you are outdoors and observing all the different autumn colours, the shapes of the different leaves and the texture of them under your feet. Observing the leaves falling and floating to the ground and as they float downwards you feel yourself relaxing more and more. Each leaf you observe floating to the ground helps you feel calmer an more relaxed.
As these leaves float to the ground you get a sense in your body of letting go too, just like the trees. You may not even know what it is that you are releasing and it doesn’t have to be analysed either. Simply invite your beautiful being to let go of any unhelpful, unwanted, outdated stuff. It might be thoughts, feelings, emotions or sensations perhaps. Allow them to drift out of your being, melting away, dissolving and dissipating into the earth to be recycled. Take a few breaths as you do this and feel your belly expanding on the in breath and relaxing back on the out breath as you feel the releasing sensation. Take a few moments to do this.
Now notice how much lighter you feel mentally and physically. You can now focus on important tasks in hand and direct your valuable energy and emotions to areas in your life which bring you joy and happiness. Mentally topping up your happy battery by bringing to mind the good times – who in your life makes you laugh, who lights up your life? They may be humans, furry family. Only you know who and what in your life can top your happy battery up. Allow it to fill up right to the top with feelings from happy memories and events you are looking forward to and also with those things you are grateful for today and in this moment.
