TENNIS BALL AND SOCK – This is a Favourite Tip of mine . . .

We know that a tennis ball is a great massage tool. A ball with a bit of give in it is ideal. If you only have a rock hard tennis ball then be more gentle.

You can use a ball and a wall to help you massage around your upper back, where you would not normally be able to reach. The ball finds all the tight and tense spots.

A great way to prevent you dropping the ball is to pop it in a longish sock.

You can bounce gently on the ball or move your body to massage tense areas. Avoid bony areas (spine and edges of shoulder blades). If you want to really get under those shoulder blades then try hugging yourself or reaching a hand over to the opposite shoulder as this exposes more space on your upper back between the spine and shoulder blade.

Spend a few minutes on each side and notice how much better it feels afterwards. 👍🤩

This is great to do if you have a desk based job – take a few minutes every couple of hours to do some shoulder and upper back movement.

Massage increases the circulation to the area bringing fresh blood, oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and flushing out the old stuff. You should find it leaves you feeling more relaxed generally in mind and body too.

Remember take it gently – if it hurts then stop or lighten pressure. Seek medical guidance if you have any injury in this area.
